$100,000 megastars $50,000 superstars

The Egyptian satellite channel ‘Al Hayat’ will pay every ‘Megastar’ 100,000 dollars for appearing as a guest on the channel. The first megastar on the list is Egyptian comedian Adel Imam. He has recorded three episodes for the channel, discussing his career.

Other famous Egyptian celebrities will make appearances, like the singer Muhammad Munir, who rarely appears in the media, superstar Amr Diab, and the actor Omar Al Sharif. According to the Saudi daily Al Hayat, ‘Superstar’ celebrities will be paid between 20-50,000 dollars to appear as a guest.

Qtel's MyTones service, launched last month, is proving to be a huge hit with customers. Over 110,000 customers have already purchased some 200,000 tones. Arabic and Islamic tones are proving to be the most popular, especially those by artists Mohamed Abdo, Samy Youssef, Amr Diab and Elissa.

MyTones service allows customers to play various music, poetry and comedy clips to their callers, keeping them entertained as they wait for their call to be answered. Customers can dial 9002424 from their mobile phone to access the MyTones service at a cost of QR1 per minute and each MyTone costs QR5 per month.
